22 Weeks

Time has been DRAGGING since 20 weeks and these updates do not seem to be moving quickly at all! I mean, it has only be 2 weeks since my last U/S and that feels like AGES ago to me. At this rate, I am gonna be pregnant for a VERY long time yet! LOL

The Baby:
Your baby’s first canines and molars are developing from hard tissue below the gum line. Chompers has distinct lips. Eyes are formed, although the iris lacks pigment. She weighs a little over 12 ounces, and her length from head to butt is 7-1/2 inches. Her muscles are developed, and as his body grows bigger, her organ systems specialize to perform specific tasks.

Touch is one of the first senses to develop prenatally, and your daughter is literally feeling her way around. As she touches, moves, and flexes, she gains important information about her body’s individual parts and how they work together.

Your baby now has a full set of neurons in her brain to process all the new things she’s learning about herself and her environment. Let the learning begin!

The Mommy:
Your uterus is now about two centimeters above your belly button. Your blood volume increases by 50 percent for the task of supplying both you and your baby’s bodies with oxygen. Replenish your body’s stores of iron with supplements and iron-rich foods. You can increase your absorption of iron with a dose of vitamin C.

The three most common things pregnant women crave are chocolate, sweets, and citrus fruits and juices. You may also experience the opposite of cravings: Aversions to foods you previously enjoyed but now can no longer bear to eat, taste, or smell.
